MAX (operating system)
MAX is a Linux distribution sponsored by the department of education of the autonomous community of Madrid. MAX stands for MAdrid LinuX. It was formerly based on Knoppix, while its last release, MAX 4.0, is based on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. Since 2003 MAX has been installed on all the computers of the schools in the autonomous community of Madrid. MAX supports both KDE and GNOME along with most common programs used under Linux such as Konqueror, Mozilla Thunderbird, OpenOffice.org, Mozilla Firefox and Audacity. MAX comes as both a Live DVD and an installable system, as well as a USB version.
Last release is 6.0 with multiseat support and configurable skin for primary education.
